‘THINGS SPEAK. UNIVERSITY STORIES TOLD WITH OBJECTS’
The University of Wrocław is the oldest institution of higher education in Wrocław. In its more than 320-year history, the University has amassed a rich tangible heritage, with which those who work and study at the University interact on a daily basis. This heritage includes art, technical artefacts, teaching and learning aids, as well as ordinary everyday objects. Stored in offices, lecture theatres and storerooms, they testify to the multi-generational care for the memory of the academic community and its scientific achievements. The stories that accompanied those objects evoke a bygone era and show the close relationship between academics and the objects around them.
From those stories, this exhibition has been born. It aims to raise awareness of the value of these objects and the need to preserve them for future generations. Objects as historical testimonies can play a bonding role for the entire academic community.
