The Museum of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Szkoła Główna Gospodarstwa Wiejskiego – SGGW) was established in 2006 and its activities began with an inaugural exhibition entitled ‛From Marymont to Ursynów’) held in January 2008. As of 1 January 2024, the SGGW Museum became part of the SGGW Main Library. The library is the seat of the museum with exhibition space of 220 sq. metres. The museum collects items related to the history and people connected with the university as well as SGGW’s historical predecessors: the Agronomical Institute of Marymont (Instytut Agronomiczny w Marymoncie), the Association of Industrial and Agricultural Training (Towarzystwo Kursów Przemysłowo-Rolniczych) and the Agricultural University of Warsaw (Wyższa Szkoła Rolnicza w Warszawie). The collections include documents, archives, photographs, publications, brochures, scripts, teaching resources, herbaria, furniture, the legacies and souvenirs of people connected with the university, commemorative diplomas, medals and gifts to the university, as well as old scientific and research devices, measuring equipment and laboratory equipment. The museum amasses and documents the academic legacy of the university, which is one of the oldest agricultural schools in Europe. It carries out research on its history and undertakes educational activities in this field. It also contributed to integrating the intergenerational academic community by organizing a series of meetings called ‛Kulturalny Czwartek’ (Cultural Thursdays) and concerts organized in collaboration with the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. It is a place where everyone can go back to the roots of the university’s traditions.
